A Hamlet on the Wallkill River
Wallkill takes its name from the Wallkill River, which runs along the hamlet's east bank on its way north toward New Paltz. With about 2,200 residents, it's a small community, but its 12589 zip code covers a much bigger area that reaches into parts of Montgomery and Newburgh in Orange County.
The hamlet is also home to the Wallkill Central School District, which covers most of the same area. Plenty of the moves we see here are families relocating within the district.
