Your Neighbors in Montgomery, Walden & Maybrook

The Town of Montgomery sits right next door to Pine Bush, where we're based, which makes it one of the easiest places in Orange County for us to serve. The town is home to three villages — Montgomery, Walden, and Maybrook — each with its own character, and we move families in and out of all three. Whether you're buying your first home, relocating for work, or downsizing after the kids have moved out, you'll be working with a local, family-owned team that knows these streets.

Walden: The Village That Made America's Knives

Walden was planned as an industrial settlement. In 1813, New York City entrepreneur Jacob Treadwell Walden began buying land on both sides of the Wallkill River to build a manufacturing village around the falls. When the textile mills faded, knife makers moved in — starting with the New York Knife Company in 1856 — and for decades Walden was known as the "Knife Capital of the United States."

That history is still visible in the village's older homes and compact streets. Moving in or out of a historic Walden house takes a little more planning than a newer build: steeper stairs, tighter turns, and on-street parking. We scout access in advance so move day goes smoothly.

Montgomery and Maybrook: Village Charm, Easy Access

The Village of Montgomery anchors the town with its historic center along the Wallkill River, while Maybrook has its own history as a major railroad hub — once home to a huge switching yard that connected rail traffic from the rest of the country to New England.

Today, much of the town's appeal is its location. I-84 runs through the town, putting Newburgh, Middletown, and the rest of the Hudson Valley within easy reach, and parts of the town are served by the Pine Bush school district. That mix keeps the local housing market active, and keeps us busy with moves both into and around town.
