Orchard Country on the Hudson
The Town of Marlborough was named for the Duke of Marlborough and became a town in 1788. Thanks to rich soil and its spot on the river, it has been farm country ever since, and apples, raspberries, and grapes are still the main crops. Many of the original farms are still working today.
Marlboro also holds the Gomez Mill House, the oldest surviving Jewish residence in Ulster County, and a recent town survey flagged the hamlet as a potential historic district.
